Head-On Crash in Grand County Leaves One Dead, Several Injured

A devastating head-on collision on U.S. Highway 40 in Grand County claimed the life of one driver and left several others seriously injured on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash happened around 5:40 p.m. when a black Subaru Crosstrek crossed the center line and collided head-on with a silver Kia sedan. (Source: CBS News)

Victims and Injuries

– The Kia’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

– Two children and the Subaru’s 55-year-old female driver sustained serious injuries. They were transported by air ambulance to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment.

Road Closures and Investigation

Highway 40 was closed in both directions between Kremmling and Highway 14 for several hours while authorities investigated and crews cleared the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and it is not yet clear whether speed, impairment, or road conditions played a role.
